Missionary Support Sunday (July 11th)
In honor of our upcoming visit from Barbara Hinderlie (our missionary in Madagascar) and in honor of the work these Good Samaritans do, we will have an opportunity to remember them in worship through a time of prayer and a special offering.
Any loose offering from that day (July 11th) will go towards supporting Barbara and her family in the good works they do in Africa. You may designate a portion of your envelope offering by indicating on the other line – Missionary Support and the amount.
Also, if you'd like to hear first hand about some of Barbara's experiences in Africa while working as a missionary, please join us and her this Wednesday, July 14th @Messiah for a presentation and a potluck.
MEET OUR MISSIONARY – Potluck Dinner and Presentation
Barbara Hinderlie and her family (Andrew and the boys) are on home assignment this summer. During this “vacation time”, the Hinderlie's are trying to visit as many supporting congregations as possible. Luckily, we are one of the congregations that Barbara will be able to visit.
She will be in Somerset County the week of July 11th and visiting Messiah on Wednesday evening, July 14th. Please join us for a potluck meal and presentation beginning at 6pm on the 14th. Please bring any questions that you might like to ask her about the work that she does. Hopefully, she can provide some insight as to how worship is different in Africa and how it might be the same.
VBS Meeting
Speaking of Vacation Bible School, there will be a final planning meeting on Thursday, July 15th at 7pm @Mt. Calvary. We hope to wrap up all the details and answer any questions about our big week.
Please Note: previously, we had scheduled this meeting for that Wednesday (the 14th), but due to Barbara Hinderlie's upcoming visit, we have rescheduled the VBS meeting for Thursday, July 15th.
Entertaining Angels in the Great Outdoors: Outdoors Worship & Parish Picnic
Our 8th annual Parish Outdoor Worship Service and Picnic is July 18th @ Samuel's Pavilion. As Abraham entertained three strangers under the Oaks of Mamre and received good news, so let us gather under the oaks of our pavilion and in the sun to celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ in worship and in fellowship.
Our service and meal will be held at Samuel's Picnic Pavilion. Worship begins at 10:30am. The space is handicap accessible and for those who prefer not to soak up so much sunshine, there is space aplenty in the shade.
Please remember this is the ONLY worship service on that Sunday. Members of all congregations are invited to come worship as one in the Lord together.
Chicken wings will be provided. Hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available. Please bring your favorite covered dish item to share. Also, bring your own picnicing items (drinks, dishes, utensils, napkins, etc.) Pray for good weather and see you there.
Our loose offering for the picnic will support – the Somerset Free Community Clinic.
Look What God’s Doing Now –
Summer Saturday Evening Worship and Campfire @Huston’s Hollow
Later this summer, in an effort to reach out to strangers in our midst, to enjoy God’s creation, and to worship together differently, we will be hosting an occasional Summer Saturday Worship and Campfire @Huston’s Hollow.
The worship style will be informal and casual including a bible study talk type sermon followed by a lite meal – hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. These worship opportunities will take place on Saturday, July 31st at 5pm, Saturday, August 21st at 5pm, and Saturday, September 18th at 5pm.
If you are interested in helping out with this worship, please let Pastor Will know.
