Entertaining Angels in the Great Outdoors: Outdoors Worship & Parish Picnic
Our 8th annual Parish Outdoor Worship Service and Picnic is July 18th @ Samuel's Pavilion. As Abraham entertained three strangers under the Oaks of Mamre and received good news, so let us gather under the oaks of our pavilion and in the sun to celebrate the good news of Jesus Christ in worship and in fellowship.
Our service and meal will be held at Samuel's Picnic Pavilion. Worship begins at 10:30am. The space is handicap accessible and for those who prefer not to soak up so much sunshine, there is space aplenty in the shade.
Please remember this is the ONLY worship service on that Sunday. Members of all congregations are invited to come worship as one in the Lord together.
Chicken wings and chicken will be provided. Hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available. Please bring your favorite covered dish item to share. Also, bring your own picnicing items (drinks, dishes, utensils, napkins, etc.) Pray for good weather and see you there.

Summer Saturday Evening Worship and Campfire @Huston’s Hollow
Later this summer, in an effort to reach out to strangers in our midst, to enjoy God’s creation, and to worship together differently, we will be hosting an occasional Summer Saturday Worship and Campfire @Huston’s Hollow.
The worship style will be informal and casual including a bible study talk type sermon followed by a lite meal – hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. These worship opportunities will take place on Saturday, July 31st at 5pm, Saturday, August 21st at 5pm, and Saturday, September 18th at 5pm.
If you are interested in helping out with this worship, please let Pastor Will know.
Joint Council Reminder
The Joint Council of the NCLP meets on Tuesday, July 6th at St. Paul's.
Becoming the Parent You Want to Be – Family Time and Bible Study
Our Parenting Bible Study continues this month on Saturday, July 31st at Messiah from 1pm to 3pm. Last month, we examined the traits of being affirming, attentive, and connecting as ways to help ground our children, bolster their self-confidence, and let them know that they are cared for and loved. We discovered that God uses similar ideas in affirming and connecting with us. Through baptism, God affirms us (calls us special), through being called his children and made part of his family, God says we are valued and belong.
This month will look at two of the traits that the Drs. Parrot feel are essential in helping us discipline our children in a loving and biblical manner.
The study is open to parents who have young children to care for. Children are welcome as well. Each session opens with a brief time of worship for the whole family. Then the children spend time playing under adult supervision while Pastors Will and Elisa lead a Parenting Bible Study. At the conclusion of our time, we get together for an activity and a snack. Please join us.
It's only one Saturday a month.
VBS Meeting
Speaking of Vacation Bible School, there will be a final planning meeting on Thursday, July 15th at 7pm @Mt. Calvary. We hope to wrap up all the details and answer any questions about our big week.
Please Note: previously, we had scheduled this meeting for that Wednesday (the 14th), but due to Barbara Hinderlie's upcoming visit, we have rescheduled the VBS meeting for Thursday, July 15th.
The Service Committee has decided to kick off the summer by collecting items for the Health Care Kits. We will put a box in the Narthex for your donations
All items must be in original wrapper. Items we are collecting:
Regular Bath Towels and Hand Towels (prefer dark)
Soap (bath size bars) any brand
Toothbrushes / Combs (wide tooth preferred)
Metal Nail Files
Metal Nail Clippers w/file / Band-Aids (1/2” x ¾”)
No Toothpaste
The committee will also be collecting items for the School Kits this fall. A list will follow at a later time. All items are greatly appreciated.
There’s Wisdom in the Word – Parish Bible Study
All are invited to come, pray and study scripture as we continue to explore God's Word. This month we continue our exploration of Keep Climbing: Why God Doesn't Give Us Everything We Want.
Session 3 focues on Climbing in Silence. We explore how that even though at times it may seem like God is absent during our trials, God is present with us, in the silence and seeing us through.
This month, our Bible Study will meet on Tuesday, July 20th at 7pm @M. PLEASE NOTE: this is a week earlier than normal due to VBS being scheduled for the last week of the month.
